A Cinematic Medieval Village Set in a Unique Natural Landscape
Korda Studios’ Medieval Backlot is a highly adaptable, large-scale period set, located just 10 minutes from the main studio lot, in Göböljárás. Nestled within an extraordinary natural environment featuring lakes, a connecting river, swampland, open meadows, forests, and natural caves, it offers a visually rich and immersive backdrop for any production.
Originally constructed on a 12,000 square metre backlot for the internationally acclaimed television series World Without End, the set authentically represents a Northern European village from the 11th to the 14th century. Today, it spans more than 13,500 square metres and includes approximately 30 building structures, many with fully built interiors, while others are designed for flexible interior construction as needed.
The architecture reflects key elements of medieval life, with a fortress wall and gated entrances, a central square, a church with an inner courtyard, an ambulatory, large medieval halls, and a mix of single and double-storey houses featuring wood-shingled or cane roofs. Its layout allows for versatile storytelling, making it ideal for both historical and fantasy genres.
Combining natural beauty with production-ready infrastructure, the Medieval Backlot provides filmmakers with a controlled yet authentic environment for high-end shoots.
